Lunch
is over but Rohini was feeling very much nervous and she decides to
leave the office and go home. Actually Rohit’s proposal and
Vaishali’s suggestion of inviting Mahendra had gone on her nerves.
She was feeling terribly restless, doing regular office work in such
condition was not possible, and so she tells her assistant Smita that
she feels uneasy and so wishes to take a break for the day. Smita was
not only her assistant but a good confidante; she could understand
Rohini’s condition and advises her to stay in the office, even if
she does not do any work it does not matter but in case she goes home
under any pretext it shall give some signals to the opposite side and
may turn out to be of serious consequences. Smita boldly tells her
mind to Rohini and insists that she not leave the office on the
ground that she feels sick!
“I
understand your concern but if Mr. Joshi calls me for any work I
shall find it difficult to go to him, you know!” Rohini to Smita.
Rohini feels the quiver of her body at the very idea that Mr. Joshi
may call her for some work!
“Can
we find some out side work such as visiting Labour
department? You find out some excuse so that we shall leave the
office to visit that department and by that excuse we shall be out of
his office so that Mr. Joshi or even Rohit will not be able to call
you!” Smita
“Yes,
there are quite a few things I have to go and personally see in that
place. It is a wonderful idea, Smita you are a genius!” Rohini
appreciates her suggestion. They pack up for the office and Rohini
phones to Mr. Joshi and tell him that she is visiting Labour
Department for routine check ups. They move out quickly before any
body notices them. When outside of the office and in the lift Rohini
hugs Smita and even kiss her on her cheek to thank her for her help.
“Now
what shall we do? Are we really going to that department?” Smita
asks with a smirk. Rohini joins her in that smirk but tells her that
since we have told Joshi that we are going there we must make at
least a cursory visit to complete the alibi. They sit in Rohini’s
nano and move out of the office premises swiftly. While on the move
Rohini calls Mahendra and asks him how things are at home. Mahendra
tells her that Lily is come and wants to learn a few things from him
about cooking recipes and they both are busy making some delicious
cookies, tells her that she can enjoy them as she comes home! Rohini
feels a sense of relief hearing Mahendra’s voice and in the middle
Lily’s comments to Mahendra. She goes in her sweet dreams for a
while but her concentration on the driving was not affected. They
come to the Labour Department premises and enter the place. In-charge
Mr. Sawant greets them and they go to her office in that place. Mr.
Sawant is an old employee of the company and he knows a lot about
this company. Rohini knows that and so she looking to Sawant feels
that she may ask him some questions about Velkar!
Rohini
is constantly looking to Sawant deep in her thoughts. At that Sawant
feels a little embarrassed and nervously enquires, “What is the
matter? Can I bring the files of records?”
“No,
that is okay but Mr. Sawant can I ask you about the past things in
this office?” Rohini
“Of
course madam, you can ask for anything about this company since I was
some of the most trusted men of Velkarsab!”
“What
did you say, Velkarsab?” Rohini strikes back in sudden reaction.
“Do
you know Mr. Velkar?” Rohini
“It
may be too much to say but actually I and Velkarsab were the two who
opened this department and ever since I am managing it.” Sawant
“Did
Joshi not object to your being here since you say you were Velkar’s
special man?” Rohini
“Joshi
sir is a man interested in the matters of only sales and he seldom
looks into the matters of this department.” Sawant
“That
day we got some problem and I was told by Rohit sir that you solved
it! Am I correct?” Sawant
“Madam
the way you suggested it reminded me of Velkar! It was his style of
work and the problem was due to wrong decisions of Rohit sir but you
corrected. It is interesting that you and Velkar have similar
approach to the labour!” Sawant
Rohini
wanted to hear more about this Velkar and she asks him with a smile,
“Why don’t you sit, Sawant saheb you are also a senior level
employee and so need not stand like this; we can talk about your days
with this Velkar. Can you tell me more about him? I am very curious
about this man since every body has told me that I think the way he
thinks from that day when I gave that presentation.”
