Silent Love - 8

Continues from previous post –
At lunch break more girls have gathered and now the situation is all the more difficult because, by now the news that their beautiful boss is having a guest who moves in towel on street!
Since Rohini is their boss the girls were a littlie skeptic about the news and prefer, that the truth comes from the horses mouth. There was unusual quiet at the lunch break, every body was concentrating on their lunch box and only their ears pointing to what Rohini may break. At last Rohini could not stand the glaring glances of her colleagues and decides to tell the truth. As she starts telling the story of what happened last evening, all the girls start giggling with disapproval. Indicating to miss Rohini that they do not believe a single word she speaks. Finally Vaishali retorts with a mischievous smile. “Good Story indeed.”
Why don’t you tell truth?” Politely Smita pleaded. “What nonsense you are all saying? Do you all feel that I am telling any fairy tell or what?” Rohini flashed angrily. While the commotion was on Rohit entered the dining hall and joined them. Seeing Rohit, Rohini became a little nervous. She simply packed up the lunch box and returned to her chamber without a word. This made all her office colleagues all the more skeptic about the whole matter. Most of the girls were whispering amongst themselves and finally at the leadership of Vaishali decided that they will visit Rohini’s apartment that evening and fathom the truth. “We should make a surprise visit.” Rohit suggested nervously and they all agreed. Rohit was a little disturbed at the news of a guest at Rohini’s apartment. The guest, moving in towel on streets, and that too, barefooted! It was too much for Rohit. Initially Rohit would not accept such a news but Vaishali reassured that the news is from the most reliable source. Vaishali took Rohit on one side of the room and told him that this evening only other girl shall visit Rohini’s apartment and she and Rohit will not be there.
Rohini was actually annoyed at the realization that, Vaishali got the news of presence of this stranger at her home. But how? Was the question she could not fathom. That day passed nicely for Rohini; she was unusually bright and attended the responsibilities of the office with extra ease. She could not know why she was so good at everything that was being attended today. Even Rohit was impressed with her working today. He actually asked Vaishali what is the matter with their boss. Incidentally, Rohit was a chartered accountant and was interested in Rohini. Everybody in the office new about his special interest in her. They all approved of that because Rohit was a good man. Vaishali was a married woman and was desiring that both Rohini and Rohit can make a good match for each other. When she got a surprise call from the salesman from the Mall, Mr. Das telling her about the man in towel and that the stranger was with Rohini. This made her a little nervous and so she wanted to fathom the truth. But as expected Rohini did not reply properly according to her, because, even though Rohini had replied to them and the story was absolutely true, they did not accept it and thought that she was telling ‘a story’. The day was over and now everybody in the office was packing up to move to their homes. Slowly one by one they were bidding bye to Rohini and leaving the office. It was almost six and by now the office was almost empty. Only Rohini was attending on some late matters and the peon boy Raja was waiting only to pack up for the day as soon as she leaves the office. Usually smita waits with her until late hours but today she had left along with others leaving Rohini alone in her chamber. Rohini at a moment wondered why her secretary had left early but that did not bother her, she did not need her for the work she was attending at that late hours. Now it was six thirty and she remembered Mahendra. She wondered what he must be doing at home and so she called home, the bell was ringing for some time and then a hoarse voice of a man of course, Mahendra came on the phone. “Hello, is it mam? What is it mam? Everything is OK here, I am waiting for you and please, get some vegetables for the evening meals.” Hearing his rough and grave manly voice thrilled her. She said for a while nothing. She wanted him to keep talking to her like this. Again Mahendra started talking, “Who is it? Are you Rohini talking, please let me know” he pleaded. Rohini sighed and at last broke silence. “Yes Mahendra it is me, how are you? Did you take good rest at afternoon? I know you are still not out of your fatigue. And please do not call me mom. I am not your mom.” She continued. “Mam, I do not say mom, I said mam, means Madame.” On hearing this Rohini could not help laughing to herself. “OK Mahendra I am coming with some ladies fingers, can you prepare spicy dressing for today’s evening meal?” she enquired lovingly. “If that is the menu then mam get some groundnuts also. Ladies finger dressing with a dash of crushed groundnut will taste very good I think.” Mahendra replied. “I am so happy that you have started making yourself comfortable at my place. I am coming soon.” And now Rohini is very eager to go home with some vegetables and groundnut as ordered by her chef.
